Bakersfield

Two weeks ago Joyce and Milton came to take me back to California. I am so happy to go and stay with them. I am excited to see my family over there and the fish in the pond. Here are a few pictures that we took that day. I'll write soon and let you know how life is in sunny Bakersfield!
I will miss Belle

Big News!!!

Wow, February is gone and March is here, how did that happen? This has been a nice winter in Arizona but it has rained a lot which causes problems for Belle, the dog, and I when we want to go for a walk.

Here is a picture of me all bundled up because they were working on the heater and it was really cold in the house. I love being warm, or should I say hot. They thought I looked silly but it was Evelyn who did it, not me.

This is my last week in Arizona with Evelyn and her family. I am moving back to California to live with Joyce and am really happy to be moving back home. Come and see me there real soon!

January

January has been a cold and rainy month, and not much sunshine until I received a wonderful visit from Jenna, Lincoln, and their two girls. Jenna is a granddaughter of my older sister Renon. Her mother Anne is my niece. They stopped by for a visit while Lincoln was here interviewing for a job. It was great fun visiting with them and their two beautiful daughters, Abby and Sophia. I hope you all know that the welcome mat is out anytime you want to visit. Hope you all have a happy Valentine's Day. Stay Sweet Grandma Lyman

Visitors

Cliff and Arvonne's son got married over the holidays and they had a recption in Scottsdale. I was not able to attend but they did come to visit me in Tucson!!!! Dale and Pauline came along with them. It was great to see them. They made us all laugh with their funny stories and memories of coming to visit me in Escalante. I really enjoyed seeing those too. I hope that they can come again soon because they made my day.

It would not be a good pictures without one person doing bunny ears!

What do you do on Jan. 2nd when it is 75 outside…eat a Sonoran dog!

It was a beautiful day on Jan 2nd with the weather being 75°. Patrick had given all of us a certificate for Christmas to get a Sonoran dog. This is a hotdog that is wrapped in bacon and stuff in a soft bread bun with beans, onions, tomatoes, jalapeƱo sauce, mustered, and mayonnaise. We went and got our hotdogs at the restaurant and ate outside. I did not think I was going to eat all mine so gave half of it to Bryce but it was so yummy that I wished I hadn’t. They were good; one would do me a long time. I mean I was full but wanted more of that good Mexican hotdog! Spanish food is very different then what I am used to but I like it, I do.

If you come visit me I will take you there too!

From 2009 to 2010

I wonder what the world will be like a year from now.
I have been staying up late the past few days working on our Christmas puzzle. We always had a puzzle on Christmas from the time they came out. All the kids (Dick, Deanna, Rosy, Joyce, Blain, and Evelyn) liked the puzzles. It was a tradition to put them together on Christmas day. Randal helped us too. Dick was pretty good at it. I think they are harder now than they were back then. Because of staying up late the past few days I was ready for bed at 9:30 on New Year’s Eve but the kids helped me to stay up. A few days earlier Sarah and I patched and gluing the hot air balloon from last year. The kids (Evelyn’s Family) made it last year from tissue paper and flew it in the backyard. This year we wanted to fly it again but when we got it lit the wind started to blow, before it even took off the balloon caught on fire. I was hoping it would fly but got a laugh out of it burning. It was cold outside but fun to be with the family doing something funny!
We watched the ball drop and then I went to bed. I never thought I would live this long to see 2010.

Christmas 2009

When I think of Christmas I thing of snow and we do not have that in Arizona. I miss that but I do like the warm weather here, very much so. When I was little we were always excited for Christmas. One Christmas I remember is when my dad bought Evelyn, my sister, and I a little rocking chair. They owned the town store at the time so got a deal on it. Now Deanna has it and it is really cute.
I had a wonderful Christmas this year with Evelyn’s family. Patrick, Katie, and Sarah were here for the holidays so Bryce was happy. We had a wonderful morning opening gifts. It was great to be with family and I received more gifts than I deserve. I got so much candy and chocolate including at 4lb box of See’s from my brother Maymard who lives in Utah. If anyone comes to see me I will share it with you as there is so much! That afternoon we went for a walk, watched movies, and started a new puzzle. I thought we were finished with that as we had just finished one a few nights earlier with Joyce but we got a new one for Christmas.
For Bryce’s present to all of us we got an invitation to a Rocket launch. The thing was that we had to bring own rockets. Evelyn and I made a bright pink one with bling (silver poke-a-dots). A few days after Christmas we went to the local High School and launched them. Shooting off the rockets was neat. It was fun to see them all fly. The fact that we all built them and they all exploded on time, well with a little help, was really neat. Evelyn’s and I went really high and straight. We did a great job even with a pink rocket. Katie’s rocket when launched went everywhere and ended up landing right by Evelyn and I. That made it really exciting.
We had a great Christmas! It will be one I always remember.

Christmas Came Early

Joyce and Milton came home from their mission in mid December. They called soon after they were back and it was great to talk with them. They said they were not going to be able to see me until after Christmas. I was sad to hear that but understood how busy they were. Then on Sunday, Dec. 20th, I was woken up by them. I was surprised they were here and so happy to see Joyce. We had a great time together and really enjoyed the few days they were with us. We saw pictures and heard stories from their time in Asia. Their mission sounded very interesting and they accomplished a lot.
This was the best gift I got this Christmas and it came early!
